Where are you in your eye treatment journey?
Hello, my name is Francisca and I am from Liverpool. I’ve been complaining about my eye problems for a long time and couldn’t find the right treatment here. As a result of my long research on the internet, I learned that Türkiye is very developed in medical treatment. That’s why I decided to start my medical journey with Healthy Türkiye, an expert in this field, for the affordable and most accurate treatment.
I’m thinking about eye surgery treatment in Türkiye

1. Contact Us
Take the first step towards improved vision by speaking to a member of our healthcare team. Healthy Türkiye answers any questions you may have and can be reached by phone or online:
2. Book a free online consultation
The only way to find out if you’re suitable for corrective eye surgery at the hospital affiliated with Healthy Türkiye is to attend a free online consultation. We have the best hospital options in Türkiye, and you can find the most suitable one.
3. Receive written confirmation
Once you’ve booked your free online consultation, we’ll send you a confirmation email, which will include your chosen online consultation date and time. We’ll provide detailed information on how to join an online consultation.
4. Complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire
You’ll have the opportunity to complete a health and lifestyle questionnaire prior to your consultation. For the best possible outcome, it’s important that you provide us with detailed and honest information about your health and lifestyle choices—and of course, your responses will remain completely confidential with Healthy Türkiye.
5. Receive a preparation call
If you decide to have health tourism in Türkiye, a member of our consultants will call you to make sure you understand how to prepare for your visit and to let you know what to expect on the day you arrive in Türkiye. In this call, all the circumstances that you can face will be planned with your consultants, such as accommodations, food, flights, appointments, and anything else you want to do. This is a perfect opportunity for you to get any detail you might consider. If a question comes to mind later, don’t worry, your assistant at Healthy Türkiye will be with you throughout your treatment.

6. Arrive in Türkiye
Your consultation will determine your suitability for treatment, and it will also provide you with all the information you’ll need to be able to make an informed choice about eye treatment in Türkiye. When you arrive in Türkiye, you’ll be welcomed by a patient advisor. They’ll explain the different steps involved and you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, which will help you to make a decision about having treatment.
7. Health questionnaire review
You will be greeted by a friendly medical staff. Then, if you have not already done so, you will be asked to complete your health and lifestyle questionnaire.
8. Advanced diagnostic testing
You will undergo a series of non-invasive, but highly sophisticated, diagnostic tests. Then, your advisor will explain each of these in detail before any examination is carried out. The results of these eye tests are much more advanced than the measurements taken during a routine eye examination.
9. Meet your optometrist
Your professional optometrist can now review the information provided in your questionnaire and diagnostic tests. Following this, you will be asked to verify or sign, to confirm that the details included in your health and lifestyle questionnaire are correct. You will discuss with them, in more detail, your reasons for considering eye surgery, your goals, and the information you have previously provided.
10. Optical examinations
A series of tests or examinations will determine your eye health, natural vision, and the current prescription in each eye. Your specialist optometrist will place drops in your eyes to dilate your pupils, allowing a thorough examination of your eyelids, cornea, pupil, lens, and retina. You may notice that your vision becomes blurred and more sensitive to light. However, this is nothing to worry about. It will return to normal in a matter of hours.
11. Receive preliminary recommendation
Your optometrist will decide your suitability for surgery on a preliminary basis, pending confirmation from your ophthalmic surgeon. The final decision will always rest with your ophthalmic surgeon, but if you are not considered suitable for surgical operation, we can offer several other solutions. If you are suitable on a preliminary basis, our specialists will recommend the most effective and appropriate treatment for you.
12. Have a detailed discussion with Specialist
If our specialist refractive optometrist confirms you are a candidate for one of our procedures they will have a detailed discussion with you. During this, they will explain the benefits and the potential risks and outcomes associated with eye surgery. This process will give you the knowledge you need to make an informed decision about your procedure. You will be asked to sign, confirming you have understood the information provided and that all of your questions have been answered.
13. Receive your patient information folder
You will be given a patient information folder that provides the details of your procedure. You will also receive an informed consent document covering the benefits, risks, results, and other vision correction treatments available. A terms and conditions document is provided too and you must read all the information given.
14. Receive your personalized iScan report
You will receive your personal iScan report by email shortly after the consultation. This specific report details your eye health, diagnostics, and the unique characteristics of your eyes. Your advised treatment and surgeon details will also be included, where applicable.

15. Read your consent document
Your informed consent document will provide you with a further understanding of the benefits, potential risks, and range of results relating to eye surgery and vision correction alternatives. This will also help you to prepare any further questions you may want to ask. Please ensure you read your informed consent document before your discussion or surgeon consultation.
16. Have a surgeon consultation
You have the option of a consultation with your expert surgeon before the treatment day. This process can be done in person, or by telephone. They will talk you through your suitability. If you are a suitable candidate for a surgical operation, the surgeon will discuss the procedure, its benefits, potential risks, and range of outcomes, as well as the vision correction alternatives. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Your surgeon may also request further tests during this process. If you elect for an in-person surgeon consultation, your specialist will examine your eyes. Should you elect to have your surgeon discussion by telephone, you have the further choice of an in-person discussion before your day of surgery and in any event, you will have a consultation with the surgeon on the day of the planned operation before any surgical procedure takes place.
17. Have a clinician discussion
If you elect to meet with your surgeon for the first time on the day of surgery you must have another discussion with an experienced Optometrist before the operation day. This will normally be done by telephone. The experienced optometrist will talk you through the surgery that has been advised on a preliminary basis and ensure that you fully understand the process. The procedure, its benefits, its potential risks, the range of results, and the vision correction alternatives will be discussed. Like with the other consultations you participate in you will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

18. Surgeon consultation
As a follow-on to essential diagnostic tests being completed, you will participate in a consultation with your ophthalmic surgeon. During this consultation, your ophthalmic surgeon will perform an examination of your eyes. Your surgeon will then have a discussion with you about your suitability for surgery.
If you are deemed to be a suitable candidate by your surgeon, will discuss the recommended procedure, its benefits, potential risks, and range of outcomes, as well as the vision correction alternatives to the recommended procedure. You will have time to ask any question you want. Having reflected upon all associated matters, suitable candidates for surgery who wish to proceed will complete the Informed consent process.
19. Your surgery
Our surgical care team will do everything they can to help you feel at ease and you can rest assured that they’ll also address any concerns you may have. Prior to the surgery taking place, they’ll take you through each step of the procedure, so you can know exactly what to expect.
With eye surgery, your eyes can either be treated on separate days or both on the same day. This surgery itself takes around ten minutes per eye. You’ll meet with your personal anesthetists and they’ll ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed throughout your procedure. Although you’ll be awake throughout, you won’t experience any pain during the surgery.
20. Rest after your surgery
After your surgery, your surgeon will assess the immediate results. One of the surgical care team will then take you to a private lounge area to relax. You’ll be provided with aftercare instructions and eye drops and also you’ll be told what to expect during the initial stages of the recovery process. Last, your next day aftercare appointment will be scheduled and you’ll be free to leave at your leisure.

21. Next day aftercare appointment
It is important that you attend your aftercare appointments. This starts the day after surgery when the clinical team will carry out a full eye assessment to ensure that you’re healing as expected.
22. Plan your aftercare journey
We’ll continue to look after your eye health well into the future. Because we understand that every patient is an individual, your aftercare will be tailored to your own unique requirements. Following your next day aftercare appointment, you’ll attend further appointments, until both you and the care team are happy to discharge you from care. This happens to the majority of our patients between 3 and 12 months after surgery.
23. Attend your annual eye examination
The eye examination is not just to check your vision it is also essential to monitor the general health of your eyes. Many health cases can be detected during an eye examination.
At Healthy Türkiye our experienced optometrists will carry out a thorough assessment of each patient’s visual health including state-of-the-art screening for diseases. This includes looking for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration before they become bigger health conditions which, if left undiagnosed, can lead to severe sight loss.
